Trash Service in Taipei

My sister-in-law and I spent a week in Taipei, Taiwan, last week. Even though the weather was pretty miserable—most days we were either soaked from the humidity or drenched by the rain—I had a good time.

One thing I found particularly interesting was their garbage service. Each night, two trucks would pull up to the curb, blasting ice cream truck music! People from the surrounding high-rises would come out with their bags of garbage and recycling.

Trash cans were also few and far between. I got into the habit of carrying a plastic bag for my coffee cups and drink bottles. Whenever we finally spotted a trash can, there was usually a line of people, like me, waiting to unload their trash.

This is why I always encourage people to travel. Once you experience international travel, you'll appreciate how convenient life is in the USA.
